When space is at a premium

Measuring half the size of conventional pressure sensors and weighing just 30g, the UZU3 digital pressure sensor from Matsushita Electric Works is claimed to be the smallest and lightest device in its class.

The sensor has been designed for applications where space and weight are at a premium in robotics or automated manufacturing systems. A panel-mounting bracket allows multiple sensors to be mounted directly on top of each other without a space being required between adjacent sensors.

Despite its small size, the device has a large, clearly visible two-colour display that changes colour if the detected pressure exceeds the user-defined set point. This enables the operator to easily confirm output status at a glance. The display can also be changed from digital to analogue, indicated as a bar display.

The UZU3 has four output modes: hysteresis, window comparator, automatic sensitivity setting and forced output mode. This allows for all available parameters to be easily configured. In addition, vacuum, positive and compound pressure types are also available.
