Mercury Computer Systems’ ImpactRT S500 CompactPCI system is the first complete RACE++ system implemented on a single board.
Designed specifically for diagnostic medical imaging, sonar signal processing, and radar processing, the ImpactRT S500 is a 6U cPCI system that combines the RACE++ switch fabric interconnect with four 500-MHz PowerPC 7410 microprocessors and an on-board PowerPC 8240 host processor.
Each system board provides 16 GFLOPS of compute performance, and ImpactRT S500 solutions can scale to six boards with 24 G4 processors for a combined performance of 96 GFLOPS. All processors in the system are connected by the RACE++ interconnect, enabling high-bandwidth processing and real-time performance.
ImpactRT S500 systems are supported by Mercury’s real-time software environment, including the Scientific Algorithm Library (SAL), the Parallel Acceleration System (PAS), MULTI IDE, and a Trace Analysis Tool and Library (TATL). Each PowerPC 7410 compute node operates using the MC exec real-time operating system kernel and the PowerPC 8240 control node is supported by the VxWorks real-time operating system.
The RACE++ Series ImpactRT S500 will be available in the summer of 2002.
