EDS has been selected by Ford Motor Company to supply and integrate Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software technologies, Teamcenter, NX, and E-factory into the car maker’s next generation C3P systems environment worldwide. Financial terms were not disclosed.
The long-term contract calls for the upgrade of I-deas software to EDS’ next generation NX CAD software and the expansion of Teamcenter applications.
‘Teamcenter’s ability to manage data in a real world multi-CAD environment is achieved by utilising EDS’ Open by Design architecture, which will deliver unprecedented inter-operability across the virtual Ford community supported by the EDS ‘JT everywhere’ visualisation standard,’ said Chuck Grindstaff, President, EDS PLM R&D.
‘Standardising on EDS’ Teamcenter software will provide the avenue for Ford to achieve next-generation bill of material management,’ he added.
Ford’s C3P program was conceived in 1995 as a means of providing a seamless unification of CAD, CAM and CAE environments at all stages of component, powertrain, vehicle development and manufacturing.
