OPTIS, the French software developer, has joined forces with Eastman Chemical Company to give designers a look at how their future products and packaging will appear when made with one of Eastman’s many cellulosic or copolyester resins.
In use, the OPTIS program first applies the material’s specifications and characteristics to a computer model.
Next, it generates product images for a particular material’s unique optical properties – including colour, reflection, diffusion, opaqueness and transparency.
The software also takes into account, and allows the user to modify, ambient lighting conditions, the position of the viewer and human eye characteristics such as focusing, saturation, blooming, and colour perception, based on physiological experiments and algorithms.
OPTIS solutions are compatible with all CAD programs, and even integrated into some.
