FPSO contract for Aker Kvaerner

Statoil has awarded Aker Kvaerner an engineering, procurement, construction and installation contract to modify the Norne FPSO unit topside for tieback of the Alve satellite field.


Statoil has awarded Aker Kvaerner a contract a for engineering, procurement, construction and installation to modify the Norne FPSO (floating production, storage and offloading) Unit topside for tie-back of the Alve satellite field.



The contract value is approximately £32m and project is scheduled for completion in March 2009. FPSOs are moored ship-shaped facilities capable of producing oil from subsea wells and storing and offloading the oil into shuttle tankers.



The contract for the Norne-Alve modification project will be managed by Aker Kvaerner’s regional office in Bergen, Norway. Part of the engineering work will be performed at Aker Kvaerner’s regional office in Stjørdal, Norway.



Design and procurement work has started subject to a Letter of Intent received 5 January 2007 and pre-fabrication of steel and piping will start in August 2007 at Aker Kvaerner workshops. The offshore installation work is planned for execution during 2008.
