Madrid-based Elecnor has awarded Fluor Corporation an engineering services contract for a new 50MW concentrating solar power (CSP) plant in Badajoz, Spain.
The value of the contract to Fluor, booked in the first quarter of 2010, is undisclosed
Fluor said in a statement that it will provide detailed engineering and other associated services for the project. When complete, the 50MW CSP will capture solar energy using parabolic trough mirrors and convert the energy into electricity through a steam turbine generator.
The project is underway with engineering expected to be complete by the second quarter of 2011.
Fluor’s Asturias and Madrid, Spain, operations will lead the engineering effort with support from its southern California operations centre.
