Engineers and scientists who want to conserve slots in their PXI chassis now can use National Instruments’ PXI-8212, a combination GPIB and Fast Ethernet Interface for PXI/CompactPCI.

With this single PXI module, users receive the same high performance as a NI PXI-GPIB interface and a 100BaseTX Ethernet module. The GPIB controller chip, developed by NI, transfers data up to 8 Mbytes/s. The Ethernet controller chip, developed by Intel, is compatible with 10BaseT and 100BaseTX networks.

NI ships the PXI-8212 with NI-488.2 and NI-VISA application programming interfaces (APIs) for Windows 2000/NT/Me/9x. The PXI-8212 can run unmodified software programs previously written with these APIs.
