Measure gloss and thickness

BYK-Gardner USA of Columbia, Maryland, a manufacturer of colour, appearance and physical testing instrumentation, has announced its new micro-TRI-gloss µ , which it claims is the first instrument to combine gloss and thickness measurement in a portable instrument.

The thickness measurement is made with a ‘dual sensor’ for coatings on ferrous and non-ferrous substrates with a range of 0-500 microns. The gloss measurement allows the user to use any one of, or combination of, the 20, 60, or 85 geometries available to measure surfaces from matte to high gloss finishes.

The micro-TRI-gloss µ has a statistics mode that allows the automatic display of the average and standard deviation which ensures representative and precise measurement results. The stored measurements can be transferred via an RS232 port to a printer or PC and directly analysed by Window applications, such as Microsoft Excel. Professional documentation for ISO 9000 can be produced with a QC report template, which is included.
