Rockwell gets e-commerce boost

Rockwell Automation has received Ariba Ready status from Ariba, a business-to-business (B2B) commerce platform provider.

Ariba Ready status is said to mean seamless integration for Rockwell Automation customers accessing RockwellAutomation.com through the AribaCommerce Services Network (Ariba CSN).

Rod Michael, director of customer e-business solutions at Rockwell, said: ‘This is a significant step in our continuing efforts to increase the ease-of-use, convenience and functionality of our web site and Rockwell Automation’s e-commerce efforts in general.’

Because the Ariba B2B Commerce Platform uses Commerce XML (cXML), an open Internet standard for exchanging information between B2B marketplaces, mutual customers will be able to click straight to RockwellAutomation.com. This allows end users at a buying organisation to access the Configured Supply Program available through www.RockwellAutomation.com.

The Configured Supply Program provides customers with B2B integration, allowing them to tailor automation purchases to best suit the global needs of single- and multi-site locations. As the customer selects goods and services for purchase at RockwellAutomation.com, items are automatically added to the customer’s electronic purchase requisition with the customer’s Ariba application.

Once the customer’s organisation electronically approves the purchase requisition, the Ariba application automatically returns to the RockwellAutomation.com website and purchases the items.
