Data Systems grabs Schneider’s nuclear unit

Data Systems & Solutions, a Rolls-Royce and SAIC company, has acquired the nuclear unit of Schneider Electric based in Grenoble in France.

The acquired unit, to be known as Data Systems & Solutions SAS, will add digital systems hardware to the company’s suite of offerings to the nuclear industry, and will further expand the company’s base of operations in Western Europe.

Data Systems & Solutions currently offers software products and services to more than 80 nuclear power plants in the US and Europe. The addition of Schneider’s nuclear unit will expand Data Systems & Solutions offerings to include the SPINLINE 3 system, digital nuclear reactor instrumentation and protection systems, neutron flux detectors and rod position indicators, and other control and instrumentation products.

Data Systems & Solutions SAS will also provide the European nuclear industry with asset management, operations productivity and simulation software tools already successfully deployed in the US.

Jean-Marie Colling, formerly head of Schneider’s nuclear unit, will become Managing Director of Data Systems & Solutions SAS. The management and employees of the former Schneider nuclear unit will continue in their roles with Data Systems & Solutions SAS.
