The National Assembly for Wales has commissioned Siemens Business Services to renew and operate most of its IT infrastructure.

The ten-year contract is said to be worth around £200 million and will create, among other things, an environment that optimises electronic polling and voting for the Welsh government authority.

Siemens Business Services will install new desktops, servers, local and regional networks and a video conferencing system. As well as planning, rollout and installation, the IT service provider will also be responsible for operation of the new system.

PA consulting group, Cap Gemini Ernst & Young and Siemens Information & Communications Networks will also be working on the contract as additional partners.
