Wabtec Rail awarded $14 million

Wabtec Rail, a UK-based division of Wabtec Corporation, has been awarded $14 million by Angel Trains for the interior refurbishment of 136 transit cars.

Wabtec Rail, a UK-based division of Wabtec Corporation, has been awarded $14 million by Angel Trains, Britain’s largest rolling stock leasing company, for the interior refurbishment of 136 transit cars.

The work, which is scheduled to begin immediately and continue into 2005, involves complete re-painting of the car interiors, the creation of new first-class seating areas, and renewal of other seats and flooring.

“This significant contract effectively consolidates our position in an important market sector,” commented John Meehan, managing director of Wabtec Rail.

Angel Trains is a financier of rolling stock for train operating companies in the United Kingdom and Europe, supplying and maintaining more than 5,000 vehicles. Over the past two years, Angel Trains has invested about $3.2 billion in new trains.
