Stokesley-based power management systems company PPE provided battery maintenance services to help
Spalding undertook its most extensive planned maintenance activity to date, spanning the last few months and covering all generating and supporting equipment associated with the plant. PPE were responsible for managing battery maintenance activities during the event to help prevent any interruptions in service.
Spalding’s plant manager Paul Hanson said: ‘The implementation of the outage was of great importance to the business both from a schedule point of view and a safety risk standpoint. The PPE team became an integral part of the outage in both the planning and execution phases which resulted in an excellent programme of safety performance.’
The service provided by PPE means a further contract could be secured in 2008.
PPE’s Tim Twohig, who led the onsite team, said: ‘Spalding views strategic partnerships as being paramount to their success, and as a part of their programme of continuous improvement, they have requested PPE participate in the outage lessons learnt event next month.’
