The systems, for installation in law enforcement aircraft ordered by the Venezuelan government, will be integrated into the DA42 Multi Purpose Platform aircraft and represent the first major award for Diamond.
The contract has a value of £2.45m to SCOTTY, with an additional package for training and maintenance under discussion. Integration of the systems will start immediately with delivery of the aircraft scheduled for the summer this year.
The SCOTTY mission gear allows live video transmission of daylight and thermal images generated by onboard Polytech Cobalt 350 turret cameras via a dial-up satellite link. It can also simultaneously provide onboard video recording and pre-processing in high resolution MPEG4 format. These video files can be downlinked to the SCOTTY ground station equipment with the SCOTTY’s integrated ‘Store and Forward’ application.
