Williams Hybrid Power wins MIA innovation award

Electromechanical flywheel energy-storage developer Williams Hybrid Power (WHP) has won the Technology and Innovation Award at the Motorsport Industry Association’s (MIA) Business Excellence Awards at the NEC in Birmingham.

The MIA award is the second specifically for WHP, the first received at the 2010 Professional Motorsport World Expo in Germany for Powertrain Innovation of the Year.

Porsche’s 911 GT3 R Hybrid, integrated with WHP’s magnetically loaded composite flywheel technology, has also received considerable industry recognition for its hybrid credentials having achieved noteworthy competition results in 2010, including a number of endurance race successes in Europe, Asia and the United States.
