General Motors invests $600m in its Fairfax assembly plant

General Motors has announced a $600m (£382m) investment in its Fairfax Assembly and Stamping Plant, including the construction of a 450,000ft² paint shop, the installation of a new stamping press and other upgrades.

The announcement builds on nearly $2bn invested in Fairfax in the last 10 years.

Earlier this month, General Motors said it would invest $1.5bn in North American facilities in 2013, with the Fairfax investment comprising a large part of that commitment.
