The government has confirmed an extension of the apprenticeship grant for employers of 16- to 24-year-olds to March 2014.
The move will give a boost to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) looking to offer apprenticeships in England, according to the National Apprenticeship Service.
The £1,500 grant is available to help businesses with fewer than 1,000 employees to take on apprentices.
The funding has been extended following a positive response from employers. It has also been increased so that eligible employers can claim the grant for up to 10 apprentices.
