Wärtsilä signs two service agreements for Jordan plant

Wärtsilä has signed two long-term service agreements covering Amman Asia Electric Power’s power plant in Al Manakher, Jordan. The contracts include a 15-year parts supply agreement and a five-year technical service agreement with KEPCO Plant Service and Engineering, the operations and maintenance contractor for the power plant.

The facility is under construction and will have a net electrical output of 573MW. When completed, it is anticipated that it will be the world’s largest tri-fuel power plant with combustion engines capable of using natural gas, heavy fuel and light fuel oil.

The plant, which will supply electricity to the Jordanian national grid, will be powered by 38 Wärtsilä 50DF multi-fuel engines.

The plant is scheduled to be in operation by September 2014.
