Aker Kvaerner awarded £8 million nickel plant contract

Aker Kvaerner has been awarded £8 million by Empressa Ernesto Che Guevara to modify its nickel plant in Punta Gorda, Cuba.

Aker Kvaerner has been awarded a contract by Empressa Ernesto Che Guevara to modify its nickel plant in Punta Gorda, Moa, Cuba.

The contract is worth around £8 million and will be executed from Aker Kvaerner’s Teesside office in the UK.

The contract includes the design and procurement management of a sulphide concentrate drying system and a sulphur dioxide (SO2) and soot removal system.

Aker Kvaerner will provide advisory services during installation and commissioning. These services will also include assistance from Empressa Ernesto Che Guevara’s preferred dryer manufacturer, Kvaerner Eureka, which is part of the Aker Kvaerner Group.

The project is scheduled to commence in August 2003 and will take approximately 12 months to complete.
