BOC has today announced it has clinched a multi-million pound deal to supply a cylinder facilities management service to all of BP’s oil rigs in the UK.

Under the three-year deal, BOC will service all of BP Exploration’s offshore rigs in the North Sea. The agreement is in addition to an existing onshore contract, which covers BP’s installations at Grangemouth, Sunbury, Hull and Coryton. The agreement also provides scope for BOC to supply BP’s welding and gas control requirements.

As part of the management service BOC facilities managers will travel to the rigs to carry out audits of BP’s cylinder holdings, look for improvements and ensure all staff on the rigs can handle gases safely.

Dr Norbert Kamp, BP’s strategic sourcing manager, operations, said: ‘We see BOC as a clear market leader in the area of cylinder gases facilities management services. BP is therefore very excited about extending its existing relationship with the company.

‘Technical integrity and the highest standards of safety are two very important factors for BP and I feel that BOC is well placed to service our needs in this critical operations area.’
