GE Aircraft Engines awarded $510 million contract

GE Aircraft Engines has recently been awarded a $510 million performance-based logistics (PBL) contract by the US Navy.

The contract covers repair and overhaul of 36 components for F404-400/-402 rotor and stator assemblies, plus designated controls and accessories.

According to GE, the PBL contract will provide the fleet with availability of major sub-assemblies at a level significantly higher than that offered by traditional support processes.

GE Aircraft Engines will provide material, program management, warehousing and information technology, and the US Navy Depot at Jacksonville, Florida, will provide labour and overhaul expertise.

F404 engines currently power the F/A-18 Hornet fighter/attack aircraft of the US Navy and the US Marine Corps.
