GE to acquire Thales Ultrasound Probes

GE Medical Systems and Thales announced today that GE Medical has finalised the acquisition of Thales Ultrasound Probes. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

GE Medical Systems and Thales announced today that GE Medical has finalised the acquisition of Thales Ultrasound Probes, a supplier of custom, extended performance transducers for medical ultrasound and other applications based in France. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

With more than 20 years of experience, Thales Ultrasound Probes is recognised for its advances in transducer technology and will help GE develop the next generation of ultrasound transducers.

‘We are extremely excited about this acquisition because both companies are driven by developing leading edge technology that improves healthcare delivery,’ said Omar Ishrak, Ph.D., CEO and President of Global Ultrasound for GE Medical Systems.

‘Thales Ultrasound Probes will join our global probes operations, and will continue to supply probes to GE and other ultrasound system manufacturers. We expect this segment of the business to continue to grow,’ added Ishrak.
