Finland places £79 million tank order

The Finnish Defence Forces (FDF) have awarded Patria Hägglunds a £79 million order for the delivery of a further 45 CV9030 infantry fighting vehicles.

The Finnish Defence Forces (FDF) have awarded Patria Hägglunds an order for the delivery of a further 45 CV9030 infantry fighting vehicles, worth approximately £79 million. The vehicles will be delivered in 2006 and 2007.

FDF selected CV9030 FIN from Patria Hägglunds as the Infantry Fighting Vehicle of the Finnish Land Forces at the end of 2000. The initial order was for 57 vehicles, of which 28 have been delivered.

Patria Hägglunds, the prime contractor for this order, is jointly owned by Alvis Hägglunds and Patria. Alvis Hägglunds will be responsible for the system integration and manufacture of the vehicle chassis. Patria’s Vehicles Business Area will manufacture the turrets and carry out the final assembly in Finland.

“The fact that the Finnish Defence Forces decided to place this additional order shows that CV9030 meets the very tough Finnish customer requirements and is well-suited to the harsh environment of the country,” commented Vesa Vuorenpää, President of Patria Hägglunds.
