Foster Wheeler Energia Polska has been awarded a contract by Deven JSCo, a subsidiary of Solvay Sodi, for a 400 tons per hour circulating fluidised-bed (CFB) boiler island for its industrial power station located in Devnya, Bulgaria.
The contract, valued at approximately $60 million (€48 million), will be included in the company’s second-quarter bookings.
When completed, the power plant will produce process steam and electricity for Solvay Sodi– one of the largest soda ash plants in the world. Soda ash is used mainly in the production of glass and detergents, in the paper and leather industries, and in metallurgy.
Foster Wheeler’s scope comprises the design and supply of the CFB boiler island, including fuel and limestone crushing plants, and boiler house steel construction, erection and commissioning.
The boiler will be fuelled by petcoke and imported hard coals. Work on the project has already started, and the boiler island is scheduled to start commercial operation in the last quarter of 2008.
