BA uses IAE engine power

British Airways has ordered V2500 engines from International Aero Engines to power eight Airbus A320 aircraft, at a cost of $136m at list price.

Delivery of the engines is expected during 2008 and 2010, and will be backed by a long-term V2500Select after-market agreement.

Robert Boyle, BA’s commercial director, said: ‘With 58 of our 67 Airbus short-haul fleet currently powered by the V2500, we have first-hand experience of its capabilities, including fuel efficiency.’

The V2500-A5 has seven different thrust settings from 10,000kg to 15,000kg, and is capable of powering the Airbus A319, A320 and A321 aircraft.
