Consortium to undertake HALEF project for Sellafield

Nuclear processing company Sellafield has announced that a contract for the Highly Active Liquid Effluent Facility (HALEF) project has been awarded to the HALEF Partnership, a consortium comprising AMEC, Areva and Balfour Beatty.

The contract requires the consortium to work in partnership with Sellafield to develop the concept design up to a point where it can be fixed in order to bound the subsequent scope, schedule and cost for the construction phase of the project.

The work will commence immediately and it is anticipated that this phase will take approximately two years to complete.
