ICx awarded ATD contracts by DTRA

ICx Technologies, a provider of security systems, has been awarded two advanced technology demonstration (ATD) contracts by the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA), part of the US Department of Defense, as part of its Hazard Mitigation Material and Equipment Restoration (HaMMER), and Rapid Area Sensitive Site Reconnaissance (RASR) programmes.

Under HaMMER, ICx will further develop its Agentase Disclosure Spray and its ‘smart’ strippable coatings, which detect the presence of chemical warfare agents on a surface and identify their location.

Under RASR, ICx will develop a semi-autonomous stand-off detection system to provide rapid reconnaissance for hazardous chemicals, homemade explosives and radioactive materials.

The company will also integrate stand-off detection and identification technologies with semi-autonomous mapping capability for the clearing of potentially hazardous areas.
