Honda Motor Co is to base its European racing operations in Milton Keynes in preparation for its participation in the F1 Championship from 2015.
Under a joint project with McLaren Honda will participate in F1 as a supplier ofengines and energy recovery systems.
In a statement Honda said the new facility will be the company’s European frontline operation for its participation in F1 and will rebuild and maintain engines developed at Honda R&D centre in Tochigi, Japan. Honda will also base its trackside support operations from this new European office.
‘To meet and exceed the expectations of our fans, we will accelerate our development to bring back the unique Honda engine sound onto the track,’ said Yasuhisa Arai, senior managing officer and director, chief officer of Motorsports, Honda R&D.
