Ambassador Sims

Cooney Marine’s operations director Andy Sims has signed up to become an ambassador for the Manufacturing Advisory Service East Midlands (MAS EM) programme.

Sims, who also chairs the regional committee for the British Marine Federation, said: ‘There are over 500 marine firms based in the Midlands and as vice-chair of the Midlands Marine Alliance too, I’m perfectly placed to encourage more of these companies to open their eyes and ears to what MAS can potentially do for them.’

He joined Cooney Marine in 1999 as a general manager, dealing with the company’s internal workings and processes, then moved over to operations with wider responsibility for all aspects of the business. Before that Sims had spent 15 years in various engineering roles.

Other MAS EM ambassadors are Bryan Jackson, chairman of the East Midlands Development Agency and managing director of Toyota Motor Manufacturing; Simon Beech, managing director of Bulwell Precision Engineers; David Phillipson, co-owner of Drapes UK; and Peter Roberts, managing director of Collis Engineering.
