AGR signs excavation service deal with Van Oord

Petroleum-services supplier AGR has announced that its subsidiary AGR Drilling Services has signed a AUD7m (£4m) contract with Dutch land-reclamation contractor Van Oord, whereby AGR will provide excavation services to the Gorgon Project.

Under the contract, AGR will provide AGR Subsea’s Claycutter X and Seavator seabed excavation service lines on the Jansz Scarp, a steep subsea escarpment off the north-west Australian coast.

The work, to be executed under the contract with Van Oord, will utilise the Claycutter X as the primary excavation tool on the escarpment.

The excavation, which is expected to be completed in early July 2011, will allow the pipeline to be laid in a more direct route to shore, presenting a substantial cost saving to the Gorgon Project.
