Alstom receives train-maintenance contract

Swedish commuter-train operator Stockholmståg has awarded transport company Alstom a contract, worth €107m (£89m) over a five-year period, for the maintenance of a fleet of 135 suburban trains.

The contract includes the full maintenance of the 71 Coradia Nordic trains that Alstom has already supplied to Stockholm transit company Storstockholms Lokaltrafik and the maintenance of 12 Coradia Nordic trains, scheduled for delivery in 2012 .

The deal also covers the maintenance of 52 older types of commuter trains manufactured by former Swedish industry company ASEA.
