Foster Wheeler to design grassroots refinery

Engineering and construction group Foster Wheeler has announced that its subsidiary has been awarded contracts by Socar and Turcas Rafineri, a subsidiary of Turcas Petrol, for its planned grassroots refinery to be built within petrochemical company Petkim’s facilities at Aliağa, Turkey.

The contracts cover overall front-end engineering design for the refinery and the licence and basic design package for the delayed coker, which will use Foster Wheeler’s SYDECSM delayed-coking technology.

The contract value was not disclosed and was included in the company’s first-quarter 2010 bookings.
