Nexans launches aircraft-cable facility

Cable producer Nexans has opened a manufacturing plant that is entirely dedicated to aircraft cables in Mohammedia, Morocco.

The plant, which is now in operation, is the result of an agreement signed in 2008 between Nexans and aircraft manufacturer Airbus for the supply of advanced cables for its A320, A350 and A380 aircraft.

This investment of nearly €10m (£8m) strengthens Nexans’ aeronautical business, as well as the core business of its Moroccan subsidiary.

Nexans has redeveloped the Mohammedia plant to accommodate a production area of 3,000m² and enable production of 21,000km of cables a year, with 70 per cent to be exported.
