Saab boss ‘close’ to naming small-car development partner

Victor Muller, the new chief of Swedish car-maker Saab, has revealed that he is close to finding a partner to help develop a new premium small car.

According to a report on motoring resource site HeadlineAuto, Muller wants to put the new model, the Saab 92, into production in 2013 − however, to make the project viable, the company needs a partner with which to share engines, platforms, technologies and hybrid vehicle expertise.

A number of potential partners have been considered, but Muller suggested that one company, whose identity remains undisclosed, may provide the solution.
