Trelleborg to open China damping solutions facility

Automotive company Trelleborg has announced plans to open a new research and development centre in Shanghai, China, for the company’s damping-solutions business unit.

The facility, which is due to open at the end of the year, will bring noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) testing facilities to the region, and is set to include two noise dynamometers, which enable the controlled testing of brake and engine noise.

Using on-site test chambers, Trelleborg will be able to simulate the brake noise experienced in driving conditions anywhere across the globe, at temperatures ranging from -30°C to 45°C.

The centre will also include laser scanners, which will enable the measurement of vibration levels of various engine components.
