Wärtsilä supplies engines for Summit power plants

Wärtsilä, a Finnish manufacturer of large diesel and gas engines, has received equipment orders worth approximately €68m (£57m) from Summit Naryanganj Power, an independent power producer, for two new power plants to be supplied to customers in Bangladesh.

As part of the Bangladesh government’s plan to deal with the current power shortage, Summit has ordered Wärtsilä 46GD gas-diesel engines and auxiliary equipment for its Naryanganj power plant project, which will add significant generating capacity to the national grid.

Although the site does not currently have access to gas supplies, the dual-fuel engines can be switched from heavy-fuel-oil (HFO) operation to gas when it eventually becomes available.
