Brammer becomes one organisation across Europe

Brammer, the leading pan-European distributor of industrial maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) products, has become a single trading organisation across Europe, uniting 11 separately-named companies under a single brand – Brammer.

The announcement completes a programme begun in 2004, when Brammer Group refocused its strategy and moved from wholly-owned, individually named, national businesses to a pan-European company supplying more than 100,000 customers from 265 locations, in 11 countries.

Chief executive Ian Fraser said: “Cost pressures on European manufacturers of all sizes are considerable. Any opportunity a supplier can offer to help reduce their operating and purchase costs, at the same time improving their production efficiency, is always welcome.

“While wanting to preserve the local nature of each of our national businesses, this move sees Brammer being able to deliver such savings, alongside a consistent level of high quality service and a broad range of world-beating branded products to customers from Aberdeen in Scotland, to Budapest in Hungary or Zaragoza in Spain.”

The move also recognises the growing number of Brammer’s multi-national customers wanting a single source supplier with common products, operations and services across all their European sites, whilst maintaining the benefits of a local presence and relationships.

All Brammer customers can benefit from access to its 2.5 million part inventory across the whole group to help ensure and maintain supply. This means that if the local branch or national distribution centre does not have a part, it can be sourced quickly from one of its 11 European distribution centres and delivered 365/24/7.

Brammer also provides proactive help to customers in relation to their parts usage and MRO needs, by running equipment and energy surveys, on-site inventory management, and through suggesting improvements to part usage. It also helps customers reduce acquisition costs, provides technical support and expertise, trains customers’ own people, and places Brammer people into customer sites.

Ian Ritchie, managing director of Brammer in the UK, where it has a national network of 82 Sales & Service Centres, said: “Being one company across Europe means considerable economies of scale for our customers.

“Being one of the largest customers for MRO products in Europe gives us considerable advantages when it comes to supplying parts and getting support from manufacturers.

“We can also pass on service levels, expertise and price advantages to customers, and being Brammer across Europe means we can do this even more effectively, and play an even bigger part in our customers’ future success.”

There are more than 800 Brammer employees in the UK, and its products include bearings, mechanical power transmission products (including gearboxes and motors), pneumatics, hydraulics, seals, industrial automation as well as a complete range of tools, maintenance and health & safety products. It is an authorised distributor for many of the world’s leading brands including SKF, NSK, Renold, Gates, Flender, Siemens, SMC, Norgren, Rocol Loctite and Schaeffler UK.
