Olympic win for Morgan Tucker

English Welsh and Scottish Railways and the Olympic Delivery Authority have appointed Morgan Tucker to deliver a rail-connected logistics centre for the 2012 Olympics

English Welsh and Scottish Railways (EWS) and the Olympic Delivery Authority have appointed Morgan Tucker to deliver one of the largest rail connected logistics centres in Europe for the 2012 Olympics.

The Newark-based firm of consulting engineers will deliver a 28-acre site based at the south of the proposed Olympic Stadium which will be used to deliver construction materials to the Olympic Park by rail.

Around 9,000 tonnes of materials a day will arrive at the site by rail when the logistics centre becomes fully operational. In addition to the rail-connected facilities at the centre, the site will also accommodate a number of concrete plants, other manufacturing facilities and a waste management centre.

Morgan Tucker has been appointed to provide a full design, procurement and project management role for the £4.5m infrastructure project. The client has also appointed Morgan Tucker to undertake procurement and supervision of the main principal contractor.

Before the Olympic Games get underway, part of the logistics site will be transformed into the warm up track for athletes. Morgan Tucker will be responsible for ensuring the site is ready to be turned in to the training facility.
