Smiths Group has acquired Dutch petrochemical industry filter specialist Indufil, and Fiberod, a Texas-based specialist in oil and gas lifting equipment. Financial details of the transactions have not been disclosed.
Indufil designs and builds specialist filtration systems used for rotating equipment in the petrochemical and power sectors. Indufil will become part of Smiths’ John Crane business.
London-headquartered Smiths said Fiberod complements the CDI oilfield products and services business bought by the company’s John Crane business less than a year ago. Both Fiberod and CDI extend the reliability of artificial lift systems which can pump oil from depths of more than 3,000m.
Fiberod is a global manufacturer of fibre-glass sucker rods. These are a light-weight alternative to the traditional steel rods used for the artificial lift of oil and gas from the reservoir.
