Eco-Partnerships

The University of Abertay Dundee has launched a new Eco-Partnerships scheme to help businesses in Tayside and Fife improve their environmental performance.

The University of Abertay Dundee has launched a new Eco-Partnerships scheme worth £1.1m to help small and medium-sized businesses in Tayside and Fife improve their environmental performance.

Eco-Partnerships is a new initiative from the Abertay Centre for the Environment (ACE), based within the university’s School of Contemporary Sciences.

Under the scheme, ACE Eco-partnership specialists will investigate opportunities for industrial symbiosis among qualifying businesses – where the wastes or outputs from one SME could be used by another SME.

Each business will undergo an initial environmental audit to identify key issues and areas of change such as improving waste management, energy consumption, recycling or water usage issues.

They will then have a second specialist audit where a green action plan will be produced, taking into account current and future economic and legislative factors.

Funding for the ACE Eco-Partnerships comes from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
