Kewill acquires ERP vendor

Kewill Systems has acquired the assets of Alliance Manufacturing Software, a provider of MRP software, for $0.8 million.

E-commerce supply chain management solutions vendor Kewill Systems has acquired the assets of Alliance Manufacturing Software, a provider of Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP)-II software, for a total cash consideration of $0.8 million and assumed the liabilities of ongoing customer support contracts ($0.9 million).

Alliance, with corporate headquarters in Goleta, CA, provides ERP solutions to small manufacturers that generally total about $1 million to $15 million in sales. Its Microsoft Windows-based products include: StartMRP and Alliance/MFG. Alliance software tracks and manages material purchases, product sales, inventory, production scheduling, workload capacity and factory floor workflow.

Alliance will operate as part of Kewill’s ERP division and will fill a product gap for the group in the area of Tier III discrete manufacturing. Kewill ERP provides a line of software and services for the SME market, including MAX, for the larger Tier III discrete, repetitive and mixed-mode industries and JobBOSS, for job-shops and make-to-order manufacturers.

This represents Kewill’s second acquisition in the past 12 months. In June 2000, Kewill acquired EVCOR, a systems integrator in North America, for $45.5 million.
