$60 million for Hamilton subsidiary

Hamilton Sundstrand’s Kidde Aerospace & Defense business has won contracts to deliver 12,594 Automatic Fire Extinguishing System (AFES) kits for US Army vehicles.


Hamilton Sundstrand’s Kidde Aerospace & Defense business has won contracts to deliver 12,594 Automatic Fire Extinguishing System (AFES) kits for US Army vehicles.



The kits, worth more than $60 million to Hamilton Sundstrand, will be retrofitted on High Mobility Multi-Purpose Wheeled Vehicles (HMMWV) deployed overseas. Delivery of the AFES kits has begun and will continue through 2007.



One of the contracts includes options for an additional 7,945 AFES kits worth over $38 million for possible delivery in 2007 and 2008.



In addition to the fire detection and suppression system, Hamilton Sundstrand is developing technology to convert HMMWV diesel exhaust into drinking water.
