ABB receives substation supply contract

Power and automation technology group ABB has won an order to supply two new substations and expand two existing substations for Transmissora Delmiro Gouveia (TDG), which is jointly owned by the Brazilian state utility CHESF (part of the Eletrobrás group) and ATP Engenharia, a leading engineering concern.

TDG is investing around $130m (£87m) in the project, of which ABB has been assigned a significant portion for the design, engineering, supply, erection and commissioning of the substations.

Power transformers, high-voltage equipment – including circuit breakers – instrument transformers, surge arresters and medium-voltage equipment are some of the main products that will be supplied.

Due to be commissioned in 2012, the new installation will be located in Ceará and the two extensions in Mananhão, both states in northeastern Brazil.
