Howden signs joint-venture agreement

Scottish engineering firm Howden has signed a joint-venture agreement with Indian engineering and construction company Toubro to collaborate on projects delivering axial fans and air pre-heaters to the Indian thermal power generation sector.

This will be followed by technology licensing agreements with Howden companies for the design, engineering and manufacture of these products.

A £10m manufacturing facility will be opened as part of the joint venture, which will produce axial fans and rotary air pre-heaters for power plants ranging between 100 and 1,200MW.

The manufacturing operations are expected to be ready to start production by 2011.
