KMW acquires manufacturer of military bridging systems

WFEL, a British manufacturer of bridging systems for use in military and disaster-relief scenarios, has been acquired by Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW).

Munich-based KMW, which has operations in Brazil, Greece, the Netherlands, Mexico, Singapore, the US and Turkey, specialises in the design and manufacturing of tracked and wheeled military vehicles.

Its portfolio includes air-transportable wheeled vehicles, reconnaissance, anti-aircraft and artillery systems, as well as the world-renowned Leopard main battle tank, infantry fighting vehicles and bridge-laying systems.

It has annual sales of in excess of €930m (£586m) and employs more than 3,200 people worldwide.
