Siemens Industrial Turbomachinery has secured orders worth 90 million Euros from Poland’s ABB Zamech Gazpetro for the supply of nine type GT10B gas turbines.
The gas turbines will be used to drive compressors at three successive compressor stations along the Polish section of the Yamal gas pipeline, which links the Yamal peninsula in Siberia with Western Europe. In addition to the nine 25-MW gas turbines, the order from Poland also covers engineering and the supervision of erection and commissioning.
The turbines and their control systems will be supplied by Siemens’ manufacturing plant in Finspong, Sweden. The first six turbines will be installed this winter in Szamotuly and Ciechanow. The remaining three machines for the Szamotuly will follow in the summer of 2005.
ABB Zamech Gazpetro is to supply three turnkey compressor stations for Warsaw-based STG EuRoPol GAZ, the investor and operator of the Polish section of the Yamal gas pipeline.
