Siemens acquires Windenergie

Siemens Power Generation has acquired Bremen-based AN Windenergie for an undisclosed price.

The 200-strong firm sells and maintains wind power systems with individual turbine ratings up to 3.6 MW. It has installed 1,300 wind power systems in Germany with a combined capacity of approximately 1,300 MW.

Since 1989, Windenergie has been the exclusive sales and service partner of the Danish firm Bonus Energy which was acquired by Siemens in late 2004.

In a separate energy-related move, Siemens Power Generation has formed an alliance in Japan with Meidensha to collaborate in the development, manufacturing and marketing of solid-oxide fuel cell (SOFC) systems in Japan.
