AMEC buys Young Associates

London-headquartered international engineering and project management company AMEC has announced that it has acquired Young Associates Environmental Consultants

London-headquartered engineering and project management company AMEC has announced that it has acquired Young Associates Environmental Consultants.

Young Associates is a specialist ecology and environmental impact assessment business with 18 staff based at offices in Chester and Edinburgh.

‘The specialist services provided by Young Associates complement and strengthen our existing environmental impact capabilities,’ said Roger Jinks, president of AMEC’s Earth and Environmental business. ‘The market for ecology and environmental impact assessment is growing significantly as a result of legislative and regulatory changes. This acquisition gives us greater ability to support our UK clients on environmental matters and is consistent with our strategy of geographic expansion.’

The Young Associates team has experience in ecological assessment, habitat creation and managing large-scale environmental impact studies across the UK.

‘The environmental services market provides an important growth opportunity for AMEC’ said Jim Beechinor, executive vice president responsible for Earth & Environmental’s UK operations. ‘Additional offices in the north and in Scotland will help us to further strengthen our geographic presence and continue to provide high quality specialist services to a balanced portfolio of private and public sector customers across the UK.’

Lyn Young, managing director of Young Associates, added: ‘This allows sustainable growth and consolidates the high quality of service that has been provided to our clients for the last nine years. It also opens up wider career opportunities for our environmental specialists as part of an international organisation.’
