Grant helps FDAS expand

Testing laboratory Food and Drink Analytical Services (FDAS) has received an investment of £50,000 from emda’s East Midlands Early Growth Fund

Nottingham-based testing laboratory Food and Drink Analytical Services (FDAS), which tests products across a wide range of industries, has received £50,000 in investment from emda’s East Midlands Early Growth Fund.

The funding, which is managed by E-Synergy, has been matched by £50,000 from a private investor in addition to a second investment from the Catapult-managed Regional Venture Capital Fund of £100,000.

The cash boost will help the BioCity company broaden its range of chemical and microbiological testing services, which already covers areas such as pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, animal feed and food nutrition.

Dr Trevor Ray, chief executive of FDAS, said: ‘Approaching the East Midlands Early Growth Fund and E-Synergy was an obvious choice for us as we looked for further funds to finance our expansion plans.’

Established in late 2004, FDAS offer a full range of testing services within an accredited laboratory in a state of the art facility – helping clients achieve their quality control objectives quickly and efficiently. The company previously received a first investment of £250,000 from the Regional Venture Capital Fund in November 2004.
