Dundee-based disease detection and monitoring technology company IDMoS is launching its CarieScan and CarieScan Plus products at dental trade fair Identex 2007

Dundee-based disease detection and monitoring technology company IDMoS is launching its CarieScan and CarieScan Plus products at dental trade fair Identex 2007.

Last month, IDMoS announced the UK launch of CarieScan at the British Dental Trade Association meeting at the NEC in Birmingham. Denplan is promoting IDMoS’s CarieScan products to its network of 6,500 dental practices, representing over 70 per cent of the UK dental plan market.

CarieScan is a caries detection product developed by internationally recognised dental and clinical diagnostics experts Prof Nigel Pitts and Dr Chris Longbottom. It is based on AC impedance spectroscopy. It facilitates earlier and more accurate detection of tooth decay than currently possible with any other commercially available system and aims to exploit a trend for preventive management of dental decay.

Graham Lay, chief operating officer of IDMoS, said: ‘We are delighted to launch CarieScan in Ireland. It is another step towards achieving a full global distribution network and we look forward to working with our partners to achieve this.’
